Note that this state is difficult to maintain even without negative stimuli, since survivors gravitate towards the default state. Content characters can help raise the moods of other survivors through conversation, and have a good buffer against future morale-lowering actions.
There are three negative morale states, one neutral, and one positive. Bringing a character to exhaustion might be worth it to help a neighbor and bolster morale. Keep this in mind when handling matters of morale, keep your spirits up whenever possible. A depressed survivor would lose the will to get better, lose the will to fight, making them more susceptible to disease, less effective in combat.
Speculation, and logic, dictates that morale would touch everything. Morale is a huge part of the survival of your group, and little is understood about the full effects it has on all of the game's mechanics.
